In addition to releasing the finest roots music around sometimes we like to put on live shows too.. and here as part of our Summer series we have a pair of absolute bangers!
26th July BLIND BOY PAXTON makes a return visit to The Stag & Hounds..
If you weren't lucky enough to catch Jerron 'Blind Boy' Paxton last time he was at The Stag and Hounds then you missed out on a show unequalled by any other.
He returns again to bring his own brand of virtuosity on guitar, piano, banjo, fiddle. Paxton is part old-school bluesman, part trickster, as brilliant as he is hilarious. From looks alone, you might think he was the great-grandson of Willie Dixon or Blind Lemon Jefferson.
Then on August 8th we have CHARLIE PARR at The Exchange..
Charlie Parr is an American country blues musician, born in Austin, Minnesota, United States. He started his music career in Duluth, Minnesota. His influences include Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Reverend Gary Davis, Dave Van Ronk, and Mississippi John Hurt. He plays a National resonator guitar, a fretless open-back banjo, and a 12-string guitar often in the Piedmont blues style.
Support from Howlin' Lord, Liam Kirby and Carry Nations.
